Earl Grey

Earl grey is a blend of tea with a distinctive flavour and aroma resulting from the addition of bergamot oil, an oil extracted from the rind of the bergamot orange,a fragrant citrus fruit. This classic tea blend takes its name from the second Earl Grey the British prime minister in the 1830’s. His wife Lady Grey also has a blend of tea named after her which also has bergamot oil and the addition of cornflowers and or lavender. Modern Earl Grey blends now include green tea, rooibos, herbal, chai and iced tea.
